The Transition BH Hub covers a very large area, as it is a “hub” for connecting smaller local transition groups together.
Here are the local groups that have been started so far:
- Transition Poole – Andy (hadleyac@ntlworld.com)
- Transition Bournemouth – Soo (soochapman@hotmail.co.uk) or Theresa (theresa.mcmanus@hotmail.co.uk)
- Transition Christchurch- Julie (jusmith26@googlemail.com)
- Transition Wimborne – Dave (dave@transitiontownwimborne.org)
To connect with people near you, please see our Locations page for details about where individuals are located.
Haveing just found this transitionBH group through an e-mail from Roger Ede of the Green Party, I am interested from anybody who reads this, if my 18 years as a renewables system and collector designer is of any benifit to the group.
When my wife and I returned from 5 years in Cyprus which is where I gained 60% of my experiance and knowldge in all aspects of solar energy, we bought a new home in a new development just off the canford bottom rounderbout in order to replace all the standard stuff house builders install, to that of solar thermal and solar PV but with battery storage for guranteed power in Power cuts. Also rain water harvesting again with the pumps powered by solar PV
In short we have lived and worked with all this micro energy water saving technology for 10 years as well as building a business from it, which also included exports to the USA, Sth Africa and Europe.
We have just placed this house on the market to find out if adding energy and water saving technologies gives us a higher price against that of a house which is 100% tied to the Utilities
Anybody in this group wanting to gain a deeper understanding of how simple these technologies are, feel free to contact me
Thanks Eric. If you haven’t sold your house by next May perhaps you could consider taking part in an Eco Homes Open Day being mooted as part of the Big Green Fortnight next year? Please do get in touch with me at harrietsj@googlemail.com if interested.
Harriet, cant see anybodies house being sold right now, unless you knock 25% off and maybe more.
By next May, who knows what the state housing market will be in.
I will be around for years to come, as I have lived in Dorset for 30 + years.
My house is up for sale to prove a point.
The point that even if as I have done invested in many energy and water saving technologies, that it adds zero to the value right now.
